Anti-Aging Dentistry

Anti-Aging Dental Experts in San Diego

When it comes to conversations around anti-aging, teeth are typically at the bottom of the list. However, your smile has a huge impact on your appearance: from brightness to proportions to space, experts in medical aesthetics place major emphasis on quality dentistry for a reason. Our dentists at Smile Arc Dental Group work together as a team to evaluate your smile from an Anti-Aging perspective.

Anti-aging dentistry is a form of cosmetic dentistry that goes beyond signs of aging on the teeth. “Anti-aging dentistry is an aesthetic change in the lower third of a patient’s face to improve and reverse the signs of aging through veneers and/or orthodontics. These treatment options can address wrinkles, lip fullness, and cheek support for a more youthful smile and face as a whole.

What is Anti-Aging Dentistry?

Anti-Aging dentistry “turns back the clock” with a Smile Makeover to rejuvenate our smiles through Cosmetic Dentistry. Most patients complain about the color of their teeth, erosion of enamel, and chipped teeth, often caused by grinding.

Veneers have an amazing rejuvenating effect on your face and smile. At Smile Arc Dental Group, custom veneers allow us to create facial volume and allow some patients to enhance lip volume to reverse the signs of aging without actual surgery.

Custom veneers are designed to build up the lower third of the face, which collapses over time, providing a lifted appearance. This is done by recontouring and widening teeth and widening teeth through to improve lip fullness, fullness to the cheeks, eliminate the dark corners when you smile, and smooth out wrinkles in the face.

Movement of teeth, discoloration of enamel, and loss of tooth length, along with lower jaw recession, are just a few of the most common signs of the normal aging process that affect your smile.

Not all patients come in seeking veneers due to the expense and lifetime of the veneers, which averages approximately 10 years. Oral hygiene, teeth whitening, orthodontics, and orthognathic surgery may also come into play.

At Smile Arc Dental Group, we offer multiple specialties “under one roof” to rejuvenate your smile with facially generated treatment planning. By evaluating your teeth and the surrounding structures as a whole: the muscles, TMJ joints, the eyes, lip posture, facial symmetry, etc., we are able to determine treatment modalities are needed to create the result you want.

At Smile Arc Dental Group, two different options are available:

  1. The traditional in-office method works extremely well.
  2. A more customized method where we take a digital mold of your teeth and print a customized bleaching tray for at home use with a 3D printer to be used every few days. It’s gentler and very effective and can be done at your convenience. Plus, the trays can be used to prepare the teeth with a desensitizing agent like potassium nitrate if you suffer from tooth sensitivity.

Composite bonding, which is typically used to repair cracked, chipped, or broken teeth, can also be performed in the office. This procedure also helps to enhance thinning lip tissue, which can cause drooping of the lips due to loss of muscle tone in the lip and cheek area. We commonly replace the thinning lip tissue with an additive procedure on the teeth to restore the lip support.

Oral hygiene and gum health are important no matter what your age. If you’re concerned with your appearance during the aging process, dentistry can definitely help you rejuvenate your smile non-surgically.
